If your company uses any social media platform or has its own website, you need to be able to comprehend and properly execute insights. Insights allow you to better understand your audience, find ways to improve your online presence and see how your company compares to its competitors. Insights can be extremely intimidating to the average Joe. If words such as analytics, impression or reach go over your head, keep reading!

According to Trustpilot, “A consumer insight is an interpretation used by businesses to gain a deeper understanding of how their audience thinks and feels.” You can find consumer insights on virtually any social media platform. Thankfully, these social media platforms simplify the data for you, but comprehending the information can still be difficult.

Lucky for you, we have created a crash course for the main three consumer insight programs.

Google Analytics

There is a very high chance that your competitor is using Google Analytics. W3Tech found that 55.2% of websites use Google Analytics to track the real-time traffic onto your site.

Traffic is the number of web users that visit your website. Traffic data shows how long each visitor stays on your page, how much it costs to bring that visitor in and what percentage made a purchase.

After setting up your Google Analytics account, you will be able to access multiple reports that give you insight to your audience and data that will help you create and maintain successful marketing strategies.

The Audience Report tells you anything and everything you need to know about the users that visit your site. This report can be broken down further into the age and gender (demographics), general interests, where they are located and what language they speak (geographics), how often they visit your site (behavior), and the type of technology they used (technology and mobile).

The Acquisition Report explains how the users arrive onto your site. This feature allows you to better understand the traffic to your page.

The Behavior Report gives metrics about how users interact with your site. You are able to see your top-trafficked pages, top entry pages (landing page), top exit pages, and site speed. This feature will help you better understand what the wants of your audience.

These are just a handful of the many resources that Google Analytics offers for companies to better understand its website traffic. If you are looking to learn more about Google Analytics or want to increase traffic to your site via digital campaigns, Inner Spark Creative is here to help.

Facebook Insights

If you have yet to create a Facebook page or your page needs a face-lift, check out these 3 simple fixes to improve your business’s facebook page.

Facebook Insights is a great tool for tracking your audience’s interaction with your page, so that you are able to determine the best type of content to post and when to post it. There are many tabs within Facebook Insights, but here are the most important ones.

The Likes tab gives you insights about where your likes came from and the demographics of your fans. This feature allows you to dig digger into why people liked, or unliked, your page, and why and where they did so.

Your page’s Reach is the total number of people who saw your post. This feature allows you to gauge how your page is perceived by seeing how many people liked, commented, and reacted to your post.

The Posts tab allows you to compare the reach and engagement of all your posts to better cater to the wants of your audience. This feature graphs the best time of the week and day to post, and reveals your competitor's top posts.

Page Views is very similar to Google Analytics. This feature shows how many people viewed your page and how they got there.

Instagram Insights

According to Hootsuite, 67% of Instagram users are between the ages of 18 to 27. If your companies’ target audience is within this range, you need to be utilizing Instagram and it’s analytics feature. If you don’t believe me, check out these 5 Ways Your Business Will Benefit From Using Instagram.

Instagram Insights is the simplest analytics tool out of the three. It is broken into four categories that will help your company evaluate and improve your posts.

The Profile analytics gives insight to how many times your page has been seen (impression), the reach, website clicks, and the number of posts mentioning your company (mentions).

Audience analytics gives insight to the demographics and geographics of your followers, as well as what days and specific times they are most active.

Post analytics allows you to better understand how successful or unsuccessful each post was by giving insight on the impression, reach and engagement. This feature makes it easy to compare each post to discover what is working and what is not.

Another feature is Story analytics, which allows you to evaluate how that story did by metrics such as reach and impression. You can also see how many people exited out or skipped your story.

Analytics is a difficult concept to understand, but will help your business tremendously if utilized correctly. Consumer insights are becoming more and more advanced, and these analytics tools make it easier to better understand your audience, what they want and how to stay above the competition.
